Global Logistic Properties (GLP), the provider of modern logistics facilities in China and Japan, says it recently signed a strategic partnership framework agreement with Unicharm, a Japan-based leading manufacturer.
The deal outlines a strategic partnership in the development of logistics facilities for manufacturing bases of Unicharm in China, and starts with a Build-to-Suit (BTS) development agreement with Unicharm and Tianjin Xiqing Economic Development Area (XEDA), to develop Unicharm's largest manufacturing and distribution facility in North China.
Unicharm is the manufacturer of baby care, feminine care and healthcare products with operations in Asia, Europe and the Middle East. GLP will partner with Unicharm in the site selection, project planning and development of its manufacturing and distribution centres in China. With the BTS development in GLP Tianjin XEDA as the starting point, the strategic cooperation places GLP as Unicharm’s preferred partner for its subsequent projects, which would include potential development opportunities throughout China.
As the fourth Unicharm factory in China, the project is located in the newly-established GLP Park Pujia in Tianjin XEDA, an established manufacturing base which is home to more than 19 Fortune 500 companies including P&G, Freescale, Toyota, Samsung, Honda and Henkel. As planned, GLP will develop the project consisting of three single-floor logistics facilities with a total gross floor area (GFA) of 53,000 square metres to support Unicharm's distribution activities.
This is the third project that GLP has developed in Tianjin XEDA. Prior to GLP Park Pujia, the Company established GLP Park Xiqing with a total net leasable area (NLA) of 73,125 square metres. Currently, the Phase I of GLP Park Xiqing with 40,771 square metres is 100% leased to customers including Samsung Logistics and Sankyu; the construction of Phase II is expected to be complete in July 2011.
