Mainboard-listed Q & M Dental Group (Singapore), the private dental healthcare group in Asia, says it will be co-organising and conducting a Certificate Course in Oral Implantology for its dentists in Singapore and China.
Q & M says this is in collaboration with Johan Wolfgang Goethe University of Frankfurt and TP Dental Surgeons.
The certificate course is a continuing professional education program that comprises structured modules in the study and training of oral implantology, extending over a period of one to three years. With over three decades of involvement in oral implantology, JW Goethe University has an excellent reputation in the field.
The programme will commence in Singapore on 1 July 2011. Teaching and supervisory staff will comprise experienced dental practitioners from Germany and Singapore, including several of Q & M’s senior dentists. Course participants will also attend a residential attachment in Germany. They are required to successfully carry out a stipulated number of implant surgery procedures under supervision and pass an examination conducted by JW Goethe University to be awarded the certificate.
Dr Ng Chin Siau, CEO of Q & M, says: “Besides sending our selected dentists in Singapore for the certificate course to upgrade their skills, 12 dentists from our clinics in China are also coming to Singapore for this course. This shows our commitment to improve the clinical standards of our joint-venture clinics in China, where growing affluence is driving demand for advanced dental healthcare services. While it is estimated to cost about $400,000 to send these 17 dentists for the implantology course, we think it is money well spent to ensure that our patients benefit from the better skills of our dentists.”
