Tiger Airways Australian court date moved to July 28

Tiger Airways Holdings said a court hearing today on the suspension of its Australian unit’s domestic flights was moved to July 28 amid “ongoing discussions” with the country’s aviation authority.

The airline, along with the Civil Aviation Safety Authority of Australia, jointly applied for the adjournment to the Federal Court of Australia, Tiger Airways said in a statement to the Singapore exchange today. The authority first applied to the court to extend the suspension of flights until Aug. 1.

“Tiger Airways Australia and CASA are currently in ongoing discussions regarding the suspension, and see no utility in having a hearing today whilst these discussions continue,” Tiger Airways said in the statement.

The Australian unit’s flights will remain suspended until July 28 following the new court date. The Singapore-based budget carrier said July 20 it’s reviewing financial and strategic options, without giving further details.

The stock has fallen as much as 16% since the Australian aviation authority grounded the flights on July 2, citing “a serious and imminent risk to air safety.”
