DAILY DETAIL
Overnight, the USD was little changed against the Yen, as investors remained happy to hold existing positions in the Asian safe-haven currency ahead of this weekend’s critical debt negotiations. Ending the Australian session around the 77.80 level, the USD fell to an overnight low of 77.63 before closing at 77.67. Upon recommencing for Asian trade, the USD has strengthened against the yen, perhaps on hopes that a last minute deal to raise the US debt ceiling can be reached over the weekend. Should this occur, traders should expect to see the Yen weaken at the expense of the USD. Cameron Peacock, Australia
