LionGold says gold production in Ghana has started

LionGold Corp says gold production at the Kashmir project area in Ghana has started. This is in line with its target for formal gold production by September 2011. At a presentation event today, the group’s senior management shared the results of gold production as well as its business model, strategies and plans for transforming small-scale commercial mining.

Work on the Kashmir project area in Ghana began in June and took three months from the initial site assessment, to the assembly of equipment, site preparation and commercial production.

Currently, the Kashmir project area holds the potential of more than 15 sq km of unpegged ground available. Gravel grades of between 0.5-3g /cubic metres of gold are expected based on gravel thickness of between one to seven metres.

The group targets a potential mining volume of 30 million cubic metres of gravel over five years, with an estimated production of 1 million troy ounces over five years.
