Marco Polo Marine wins $8.5m ship upgrading contract for Batam yard

Marco Polo Marine, the integrated marine logistic group, says wholly-owned subsidiary, PT Marcopolo Shipyard (PT MPSY), has secured a ship upgrading contract with an existing third-party customer, worth about $8.5 million, for its Batam shipyard.

Marco Polo Marine says the group has witnessed a significant increase in the number of ship repair contracts secured from new and existing customers in the last six months. This latest ship upgrading project will further expand the repertoire of the group’s ship repair and conversion business and boost its revenue from shipyard operations.

Sean Lee, CEO of the group, says, “The order is placed almost immediately after we had built and delivered a vessel to the customer. The order placed reinforces our Batam shipyard’s position as a one-stop service centre that provides a suite of integrated marine logistic services ranging from ship building, ship conversion to ship repair.”
