STI gains 0.4% to 2,792.87 at midday

Singapore’s Straits Times Index gained 0.4% to 2,792.87 as of 12:56 p.m. local time. Two stocks rose for each that fell in the index of 30 companies. The following shares were among the most active in the market. 
 
G.K. Goh Holdings (GKG SP), a provider of financial services, surged 11% to 71 cents. The company said it agreed to sell its property near the central business district for $32.8 million.
 
Jardine Cycle & Carriage (JCNC SP), a motor distributor that gets about 89% sales from Indonesia, lost 0.6% to $41.45. PT Astra International (ASII IJ), which is 50.1% owned by Jardine Cycle & Carriage, said Indonesia’s domestic vehicle sales declined to 73,279 units in August from 89,056 units in July.
 
Singapore Airlines (SIA SP), the world’s second- biggest carrier by market value, gained 1% to $11.12. Singapore’s Changi Airport said passenger traffic rose 11.2% in August to 3.86 million from a year earlier.
