Shares advanced slightly by midday on Friday, lifted by gains in rig-builder Keppel Corp (KPLM.SI) and as stronger-than-expected economic data in the United States helped to boost investors’ confidence.
At 1:00 p.m., the Straits Times Index (STI) <.FTSTI> was up 0.39%, or 10.48 points, at 2,675.28. Around 222.1 million shares worth $229.4 million were traded, compared with 195.1 million shares worth $180 million that changed hands by the same time on Thursday.
