Singapore jobless rate held near a three-year low last quarter

Singapore’s unemployment rate held near the lowest level in three years last quarter as the economy added 31,900 jobs, a report showed today, said Reuters.

The seasonally-adjusted unemployment rate fell to 2% in the three months through September from 2.1% the previous quarter, the Ministry of Manpower said in a statement today. That matched October’s preliminary estimate. The number of jobs added last quarter was less than the initial assessment of 32,300.

The services industry added 21,200 jobs in the third quarter, while manufacturing companies increased payrolls by 3,700, the report showed. Construction employment rose 6,800.
