Singapore sets aside $3.6b to fund vouchers for 5 years

Singapore will set aside $3.6 billion this year to finance a Goods & Services Tax scheme for the first five years to help lower- and middle-income Singaporeans, Finance Minister Tharman Shanmugaratnam said in a budget speech in Parliament today, reported Bloomberg.
 
The GST Voucher plan will cost about $680 million in 2012, he said.
