Japan Foods signs licensing deal to produce Ajisen Ramen noodles locally

Japan Foods Holding, the local franchisee and operator of Ajisen Ramen noodles restaurants, has established a noodle production facility in its existing central kitchen facility at Kampong Ampat in Singapore.

Built at a total investment of $450,000, the facility has begun trial production and will have an estimated annual production capacity of about 2.5 million units of noodles.

In addition, Shigemitsu Industry Co., the owner and franchisor of Ajisen Ramen brand, has entered into a licensing agreement to provide Japan Foods with the technique for producing the noodles used at Japan Foods’ Ajisen Ramen restaurants and the group’s sub-franchisees in Singapore, Indonesia, Malaysia and Vietnam.

The group will pay Shigemitsu an annual licence fee based on the quantity of noodles produced at the facility and used by the group.

Japan Foods currently imports all its noodles for its Ajisen Ramen restaurants from overseas.

It is the group’s intention for the production facility to eventually move into the production of other types of noodles, including udon and yaki soba, for the group’s other restaurants.
