STI increases 0.6%, or 16.76 points, to 3,003.35 by midday

Singapore’s main index rose by midday on Monday, supported by a gain in Singapore Exchange after the bourse reported a better than expected result.

The benchmark Straits Times Index was up 0.6%, or 16.76 points, to 3,003.35 after reaching an intraday high of 3,007.61.

Shares of Singapore Exchange rose 1.6% to $6.83 after it reported a forecast-beating 16% increase in its third quarter net profit.

Other gainers in the index included Singapore Airlines, the world’s second largest airline by market value, which rose 1.5% to $10.55 and CapitaLand, Southeast Asia’s biggest property developer, which gained 1.4% to $2.95.
