Stocks in Singapore closed mixed on Tuesday. The Straits Times Index rose 7.41 points, or 0.25%, to end at 3,011.91.Here are some stocks and factors to watch this Wednesday morning:
Short-seller Muddy Waters published a long-awaited report on Olam International with detailed attacks on acquisitions and accounting at the Singapore commodities firm it has said may fail, but Olam dismissed the latest salvo as lacking substance.
Public transport operator SMRT said it has lodged a police report for further investigation into possible breaches of the law, after some of its Chinese bus drivers did not turn up for work on Monday and Tuesday to protest against changes in their employment terms. SMRT is also conducting its own investigations on whether terms of employment have been breached.
Chew’s Group said its full-year net profit jumped 55% to $2.09 million from $1.35 million last year. For the year ended Sept 30, 2012, the Catalist-listed egg producer reported an 8% topline growth to $23.84 million, helped by higher sales of designer and generic eggs.
