M1, SingTel, StarHub fined $10,000 each for failing to meet standards on outdoor 3G coverage

M1, SingTel Mobile and StarHub Mobile have been told to pay a penalty of $10,000 each for failing to meet standards for outdoor 3G mobile coverage, the Infocomm Development Authority of Singapore (IDA) said on Thursday.

IDA's "Quality of Service" standard requires at least 99 per cent service coverage in outdoor areas nation-wide.

In a joint survey by IDA with all three mobile operators in September found that SingTel Mobile had a nation-wide outdoor service coverage of 97.4%, followed by StarHub Mobile at 97.2%, and M1 at 94.6%.
