Singapore shares were little changed by midday, in line with rangebound regional markets and ahead of a Spanish bond sale seen as a key test of investors’ risk appetite.
The benchmark Straits Times Index eased 0.05% to 2,998.5 points, with rig builder Keppel Corp down 0.7% ahead of its quarterly results.
The company, which reports results later on Thursday, is expected to post a small rise in net profit, according to a Reuters survey of five analysts.
Perennial China Retail Trust was a standout gainer in the broader market and rose 6.0% after Wilmar International’s billionaire founder Kuok Khoon Hong tripled his stake in the trust and set up a $500 million investment firm.
Nearly 11 million shares were traded in Perennial, 5.6 times the average full-day volume traded over the past 30 days.
