Singapore stocks may fall as ECB disappoints.

Singapore shares closed lower on Thursday, with the benchmark Straits Times Index at 3,036.19 down 0.49%, or 14.89 points. About 1 billion shares exchanged hands. Losers beat gainers at 188 to 156.

Here are some stocks and factors to watch:

DBS, Southeast Asia's biggest lender, posted on Friday a 10% rise in second-quarter net profit, helped by strong loan growth and a drop in bad debt charges.

A battle for control of Tiger Beer, 24 breweries in Asia and lucrative soft-drink brands should be decided by Friday as Fraser and Neave weighs a takeover bid by Heineken that could break up the Singapore beverage and property group.

Sembcorp Marine reported a 4.6% decrease in earnings to $142.78 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2012.

Fragrance Group reported a 9.65% decline in earnings to $21.26 million for the second quarter ended June 30, 2012.

Hyflux said its net profit for the second quarter rose 21% to $17.51 million.

China Aviation Oil (Singapore) reported a 25.2% decline in net profit for the second quarter ended June 30, 2012.

Singapore Exchange said on Friday its securities turnover in July fell 9% from a year earlier to $26.5 billion, while securities daily average value was down 14% to $1.2 billion. Derivatives volume grew 12% to 5.8 million contracts, while daily average volume rose 7% to 270,798 contracts.
