Portek requests trading halt; shares up on Mitsui bid

Singapore port operator Portek International (PKIL.SI) has requested for a trading halt pending an announcement.

Its shares had jumped more than 6% earlier on Wednesday after Japanese trading house Mitsui & Co (8031.T) said it would launch a tender offer for the firm, sparking hopes of a takeover battle.

The Philippines’ International Container Terminal Services Inc (ICT.PS) has also made a bid for Portek.
