The following companies may have unusual price changes in Singapore trading today. Stock symbols are in parentheses and share prices are from the previous close. Singapore’s Straits Times Index climbed 2.7% to 2,725.91.
Commodity suppliers: The Thomson Reuters/Jefferies CRB Index, which tracks prices of 19 commodities from copper to corn, gained 2.7% in New York yesterday, extending its advance for a second day.
Noble Group (NOBL SP), a Hong Kong-based supplier of energy, food and mining commodities, jumped 5.1% to $1.45. Olam International (OLAM SP), a Singapore-based supplier of agricultural commodities, surged 6.6% to $2.42.
KSH Holdings (KSHH SP): The Singapore-based construction company said it won a contract, valued at $49.9 million, to build an extension for the Mount Alvernia Hospital. The company now has an order book totaling $385 million, it said. KSH Holdings rose 4.9% to 21.5 cents.
Otto Marine (OTML SP): The shipbuilder said it is considering a request from the buyers of its anchor handling and tug supply vessel for a second extension to pay the required deposit of US$9 million ($11.6 million). The buyers agreed last month to pay US$90 million for the vessel. Otto Marine gained 1.4% to 14.1%.
Sembcorp Industries (SCI SP): The conglomerate that gets about 46% of revenues from utilities said it will sign three agreements to explore further collaboration on utilities projects in China’s Liaoning province. The stock climbed 4.4% to $3.58.
Sunpower Group (SPWG SP): The maker of energy saving and environmental protection devices said it won a contract, valued at US$8.5 million, to supply heat recovery equipment to JSW Steel (JSTL IN), the third biggest steel maker in India by sales. Sunpower rose 2.4% to 21.5 cents.
