Mainboard-listed Sunpower Group, the China-based heat transfer technology specialist in the design, R&D and manufacture of energy-efficient and environmental protection equipment for diverse industries, clinched a RMB48.9 million ($9.6 million) contract from Hubei Fertiliser Company, a subsidiary of China Petrochemical Corporation (Sinopec).
This new contract, signed by Sunpower’s wholly-owned subsidiary Jiangsu Sunpower Technology Co., involves the supply of two coupling reactors for a glycol production demonstration unit with an annual capacity of 200,000 tonnes to Sinopec’s Hubei fertiliser plant in 2013.
The two coupling reactors will be installed in the glycol production system which uses coal as raw material. Compared to traditional petroleum-based production system, a coal-based system will significantly be more cost-effective.
This coal-based glycol production demonstration unit is Sinopec’s major project in 2012 and is a sanctioned development project supported by the central government.
